She went to jail for the right reason but the wrong murder...
With her mom in the hospital from a recent attack, Kyara has to wonder if her grandmother’s recent release from jail isn’t behind it. Pulled from her quiet, content life, Kyara finds herself on a mission, not only to find out who put her mom in a coma but who just might have a lifetime of secrets to hide.
Snooping into what’s going on, seems harmless until Kyara meets Ryan, and discovers who he really is. Unknowingly, they have stirred up a long forgotten past, one that some will go to any lengths to keep hidden.
Secrets spanning thirty years may never come to light unless they can solve the deadly secret, now buried beneath the golf course and stay ahead of those trying to kill them.
How many more people will die before the lies are unraveled and those who are guilty, decide that killing an entire town, isn’t too far to go to hide their dirty past?
Kyara sat up from her slumped position, half on the seat and half on the floor. She peaked over the front seat at Getty. It was pitch black so she couldn't really see anything but the scent of something caught her attention.
"What is that smell? It's kind of–" She reached over the seat and grabbed her grandmother's shoulder.
"You were hit. How bad?"
"Still breathing. So your prayers haven't been answered."
Kyara reared back. Even though she had thought it many times, she definitely hadn't meant it literally. She turned to where she assumed Ryan was.
"We need to get her to a hospital. Can you drive?"
After a bit of shuffling, they were able to get Getty into the back seat and Ryan climbed in the front. Kyara flipped a light on in the garage, long enough to see the blood dripping down Getty's arm. She grabbed a stack, of what looked like new or at least clean rags. Climbing in the back, she pressed them to Getty's upper arm before getting back out and hitting the garage door button.
Ryan hit the gas hard, they zipped out of there and were soon racing down the road.
"Any ideas where to go? I think we should go to the hospital but I agree, it's too dangerous. Someone was waiting for us. Or waiting for her." Kyara looked at the woman, she hadn't seen in more than eighteen years. There was a grey pallor lurking in the wrinkles, that hadn't been there the last time. Getty hadn't just aged, there was now a tiredness, an oldness that Kyara never thought she’d attribute to this woman. Gettyhad been larger than life, to her as a child. It struck her as to how much Getty had missed of her life and then she reminded herself, Getty had done this to herself. To them.
"Yeah. I do know somewhere I think we'll be fine." He drove for a good ten minutes winding his way around Camden.
